As August is in full swing, the Montana Rescue Mission settles into operations with a fully renovated building, new facilities, and more resources to serve those looking to take the next step towards recovery and a better life. Since we opened our doors to the Unified Campus, we’ve seen people from all walks of life come in to utilize the services we offer. Whether it’s therapy, life skills education, or case management, our staff has been working diligently to spend time with individuals, making a positive difference in their lives.
Currently, we are happy to see many guests in our care step up to participate in activities that enhance the comfort of all guests in our shelter. While every guest in our long-term program is given a customized list of responsibilities to help build and practice habits proven necessary for long-term success, many guests also have the option to participate in internships either on-site at the shelter building/s or our Bargain Center. On-site, our guests can intern for a variety of services from the kitchen to the laundry room; there is always a great opportunity for them to learn or relearn important soft skills to equip them for the next step in their journey.
Nothing is a better example of our commitment to the progress of our guests than our Dennis and Phyllis Washington Life Change Center. This space is already being used for Chapel services, expanded adult education classes, case management, and therapy. In the months to come, our guests can expect to see a manned soda bar where they can relax and refresh with a cold soft drink or warm up with a hot cup of coffee while waiting to see a therapist or case manager. From there, we plan to make full use of our barber/salon station and our auto shop with the help of volunteers and staff. Thanks to the help of our community, staff, and volunteers, we will build lasting transformation into individual lives that will make a difference for generations to come.
