On Christmas Day, Montana Rescue Mission celebrated the gift of Jesus by spreading the message of hope and new beginnings with our community. This year, our annual Montana Rescue Mission Christmas dinner served 413 meals to the hungry and 200 gifts to those staying at the mission, thanks to support from our donors and volunteers.
For weeks leading up to Christmas Day, volunteers, donors, and staff worked tirelessly to prepare for this special event. Each hour of meal prep and gift donated led to a successful event on Christmas day. Together, we worked to serve a hot and hearty Christmas meal and ensure each guest staying at the shelter received a gift, and most importantly, we shared the gospel.
At each stage of our lives, giving and receiving gifts can have a different meaning. When we are children, the thrill of receiving something we genuinely desire produces a joy so abundant that it cannot help but affect everyone around the child. To adults a gift is a reminder that we are loved and cared for by someone else.
Similarly, those lucky enough to host an event full of food, presents, and friendship gave and received abundant joy. Most of all, Christmas at Montana Rescue Mission impressed a feeling of richness in the Holy Spirit, for which everyone in attendance was grateful.
As we approach the New Year, we wish to bring this spirit of giving. Acts 20:35 addresses this concept well as it says,
– “In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
We can’t thank those who gave their treasure, time, and talent during this Christmas season to help our shelter guests celebrate the birth of Jesus. Their efforts made a difference in the lives of people looking to start a new beginning in their lives.
